Faith Makes A Commitment

Psalms 37:5: Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

1 Peter 4:19: Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

2 Timothy 1:12: For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Receiving Jesus is a commitment of one*s self, life and eternity to Him. I once shared the gospel with a young woman who refused to receive Christ and then gave me her definition of Christianity. She said it was like a little bird who landed on her hand and could fly away again any time it wanted to. Hers was a belief that lacked commitment. The truth that faith makes a growing commitment to God is almost everywhere in the Bible.

Romans 6:13: Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:16: Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 6:19: I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Matthew 6:10b: . . . Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

1 Kings 3:7: And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

Psalms 5:8: Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Psalms 23:3b: . . . he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name*s sake.

Psalms 32:8: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Psalms 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Psalms 139:23: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 143:10: Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. 11 Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name*s sake: for thy righteousness* sake bring my soul out of trouble.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Matthew 16:24: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Mark 8:34: And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it. 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Luke 9:23: And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

James 2:20: But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
